• CAFF – Community Alliance with  Family Farms - www.caff.org – Today’s Community Alliance with Family Farmers is the result of efforts by both farmers and urban activists working together for almost 30 years. Our mission is to build a movement of rural and urban people to foster family-scale agriculture that cares for the land, sustains local economies and promotes social justice. Below are highlights of our pioneering and successful work.

• California Farmlink - www.californiafarmlink.org – Our mission is to build family farming and conserve farmland in California by linking aspiring and retiring farmers; and promoting techniques and disseminating information that facilitate intergenerational farm transitions.

California agricultural land is being developed at ever increasing rates.  Meanwhile, California farmers age 65 and over outnumber farmers under the age of 25 by approximately 60 to one. Aspiring farmers face numerous obstacles to achieving their dreams. These include a lack of information about financing options and other resources crucial to their success. Retiring farmers lack information about proven, innovative ways to keep land in agricultural production while simultaneously meeting financial goals related to retirement and estate planning.

• Placer Grown - www.placergrown.org – PlacerGROWN is a nonprofit, membership organization formed to assist local agricultural producers market their produce and agricultural products. The goal is to bring farmers, ranchers and community members together to maintain and enhance the viability of agriculture in Placer County.

• Roots of Change -www.rocfund.org – Roots of Change (ROC) works to develop and support a collaborative network of leaders and institutions in California with interest in establishing a sustainable food system in our state by the year 2030. This network involves food producers, businesses, nonprofits, communities, government agencies, and foundations that share a commitment to changing our food thinking, food markets, and food policies. The resulting system will provide healthy and affordable food, benefits and wealth to workers and farmers, and will help restore the soil, water, species diversity, and climate upon which food production depends.
